Compliance verification may be compared to similar services such as calibration and maintenance. Measurement activities require relatively high initial costs, which can be avoided by using external services. From the business point of view an internal measurement service reduces a profit margin of the core business. Independent laboratory service reduces a margin of sales.

Product qualification is a reliability issue but it has also impact for expenditures. Characteristics which do not exist should not be paid for. In practice manufacturers or suppliers of ESD control items do not necessarily make qualification tests in specified conditions if not separately requested.

Qualification of ESD Protective Items

Specification verification covers a performance test and a specification check. Reference instruments are traceable to international standards. Test results are written into the report. Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR) is calculated for each measurement. Specification verification label is attached. In a case of adjustment, the procedure is fully carried out before and after adjustment.

Specification Verification (Calibration)

Calibration procedure is performed in accordance with the scientific definition of calibration. Reference instruments are traceable to international standards. Deviations and aging rates of the reference normal are taken into account for expression the results. Uncertainty is estimated according to ISO 17025. Calibration label is attached. The procedure is fully carried out before and after adjustment .

Calibration

Analysis is based on macro photography techniques and/or airborne particulate measurements. Electrostatic attraction and comparison measurements will be carried out in a laboratory (ISO classification 6 at rest). Airborne particulate concentration can be measured from 0.3 um to > 25 um.

Risk assessments are based on both theoretical aspects and experimental analysis. All the risk phases will be objectively and systematically analyzed.
